World Acupuncture Day – 16th November
Acupuncture is one of the world’s oldest healing systems, developed in China more than 3000 years ago. Its foundation lies in the ancient understanding of Yin and Yang, the two complementary forces that maintain harmony within the body. Early Chinese sages, including the legendary Fu Hsi, shaped the philosophical principles behind this science.
The first major written text describing acupuncture as a complete system of diagnosis and treatment appears in The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine (Huang Di Nei Jing), dating back to around 100 BCE. This classical text explains the flow of Qi (vital life energy) through pathways called meridians, and how illness arises when this flow becomes blocked or imbalanced.
Over centuries, the practice evolved, and insertion points became more precise. Acupuncture eventually became a standard healing method in China, used alongside herbs, massage, diet, and lifestyle practices.
It is based on a simple yet powerful principle —
when the body’s energy (Qi) flows smoothly, health blossoms; when it gets blocked, illness appears.
Using ultra-fine needles on specific points, acupuncture restores this natural energy flow. These points lie along meridians that connect organs, emotions, and body functions. When a skilled practitioner stimulates these points, the body activates its own self-healing intelligence.

Acupuncture does not force the body — it gently guides it back to balance. It is safe, drug-free, and deeply calming, making it one of the most trusted holistic therapies worldwide.
On World Acupuncture Day, we honour this timeless wisdom that continues to heal millions without medicines — reminding us that true health begins with balanced energy.
